Definition: arranged marriage
There are two types of marriage: the so-called love marriage and the arranged marriage. The love marriage, which is familiar in the West, is what the couple meet independently without the arrangement by a go-between or matchmaker, such as family or relatives. Arranged marriage, commonly in the Eastern cultures, is a marriage arranged by family or another. There has been a slight change these days in some cases that arranged marriage can be based on love, in which a couple can decide after an introduction(s).
