Famous deaf or signing princesses
The late Diana, Princess of Wales, learned British Sign Language and was a patron of the British Deaf Association in the 1980s.
Princess Alice of Battenberg (1885-1969), the great-daughter of Queen Victoria, was born deaf. One of her children, Phillip, later married Queen Elizabeth II.
The Princess Coda
Just for fun. The ASL bilingual little princess Juli (aged 2?) seemed to think she was the only princess in the whole house (or in the whole world) until the day her mother (me) appeared in a princess dress. And, her reaction? Her feelings and thoughts apparently raced in a few seconds.
Fast forward, Juli at age 8 and 9 said she did remember the moment clearly. Great! What did she think back then? She told in ASL that she was thinking, "What?! Mom is the princess, too. I had never know that. It's not fair." She was bittersweet that she was not the only one. Ha.
