Forrest Nickerson (1929-1988) is a Canadian Deaf figure in Deaf history; a Deaf leader, advocate, illustrator, writer and entertainer; a co-founder of the Canadian Cultural Society of the Deaf (1971). He is known as "The Father of Deaf Culture".
"Forrest contributed sketches and drawings to many provincial and national wildlife and outdoor magazines. His drawings and sketches were published in the Manitoba Government's Department of Mines and Natural Resources. Forrest also received second place artistic honours for his creation of a new crest for the city of Winnipeg." Ref
