ASL sign for: Japan

Meaning: Island nation in the northwest Pacific Ocean off the coast of east Asia.

This is a modern ASL sign, often used by global travelers and younger generations of signers.

This older ASL sign is a generational variation (used in the 1980s). Older ASL speakers prefer this sign for some reasons.
