Greek Sign Language

In 2000, Greek Sign Language was legally recognized in Law 2817 (2000) as the first language of the deaf Greek people for educational purposes in Greece. It's not yet recognized as the rights of deaf people.

In 2017 by Law 4488/2017 (Article 65, paragraph 2), the Greek Sign Language is "recognized as equal to the Greek language.

Deaf History

Hellenic Athletic Federation for the Deaf (HAFD) is is the official national sport governing body of Deaf Sports in Greece. It's was founded in 1988. It's affiliated with the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD a.k.a. CISS and other organizations including European Deaf Sports Organization.
