Signs for BOTSWANA

There is no sign in ASL; although, there are a few loanwords to use; otherwise use fingerspelling in ASL.

Meaning: a landlocked country in southern Africa, bordered by Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.

Pronunciation (production): Dominant "B" (handshape), palm out (orientation), on the forehead (location) and passive "B" (handshape), palm out (orientation), loosely on the chest (location), both hands tap about twice at the same time (movement). This movement may be a variation.

This sign was seen in one of the panelists during the Inauguration 2016 at Gallaudet University in October 2016 YouTube video.

Another variation that is recorded in the WFD's 2003 "Country Name-Signs" shows: dominant "B" (handshape), palm facing left if right-handed (orientation), near the nose (location), moves forward twice (movement).
