A tradition is a Deaf performer singing the national anthem The Star-Spangled Banner in American Sign Language along with the spoken language at each Super Bowl playoff game, one of the world's most-watched TV events.

At the 2023 Super Bowl in Arizona, Colin Denny, a deaf Native American from Arizona's Navajo Nation, performed "America the Beautiful", using a mix of ASL and North American Indian Sign Language before the Super Bowl game began. Actor Troy Kotsur, who won an Oscar for best supporting actor for his role in the 2021 film "CODA", performed the national anthem with Chris Stapleton. Deaf performer Justina Miles became the first woman to perform and interpret "Lift Every Voice and Sing" in ASL. In addition, Justina also performed amazingly in ASL the music of Rhianna during the halftime show. Ref
Deaf artist Christine Sun Kim was the first Deaf first Deaf Asian American woman to sign the anthem alongside singer Demi Lovato in 2020.
Oscar-winner Actor Marlee Matlin performed at the Super Bowl alongside singer Garth Brooks in 1993, 2007, and Lady Gaga in 2016.
