Signs for ABORTION

Definition: the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. [Oxford]

Glossed as REMOVAL/REMOVED. Use this in context or sentence. But, when using a standalone word, then add the other sign (glossed as, for example, BABY).

The other video of the compound sign (glossed as BABY+REMOVE/REMOVAL) has been gone viral at times, where the latter part (glossed as "REMOVE/REMOVAL") was unduly scrutinized and overly misinterpreted by non-signing hearing English speakers, before an explanation of the etymological origin of the signed compound word was added to this that the sign itself means "to remove" or "removal". Haven't hearing speakers' scrutinized nor criticized about their own English word abortion (a noun derived from "to abort")? It's just a word. *smh*

ASL has its own grammar and structure in sentences that works differently from English. For plurals, verb inflections, word order, etc., learn grammar in the "ASL Learn" section. For search in the dictionary, use the present-time verbs and base words. If you look for "said", look up the word "say". Likewise, if you look for an adjective word, try the noun or vice versa. E.g. The ASL signs for French and France are the same. If you look for a plural word, use a singular word.
