Deaf Culture and tidbits

Etymology

A possible origin of the ASL sign SALT by Lyn J. Wiley's personal theory: "From dinner etiquette of the 1800s; Each person had an individual salt dish and dipped the end of their knife into the salt. Then, they held it over their plate and 'tapped on' the knife, causing the salt to sprinkle down onto their food." (Via email, May 2015)
