How do you say 'ball' in ASL?

Meaning: A solid spherical or round object that is kicked, thrown, shot, or hit in a game or sport.

Pronunciation (sign description): Two-handed clawed "5" hands facing each other taps twice on or near the fingertips.

Watch the grandma and grandpa having a chat with their one year old grandchild in ASL sign language. Kids say and act the darndest cute.

The Deaf grandparents talked about picking up the apples and putting them into the bag. The toddler Juli talked about "FALL". The grandma suddenly got lost right there when Juli referred the round things to BALL. In the end, Juli said something really funny and cool (unfortunately, I have no idea what she said) before she directed the grandma to go.

Contestant Nyle (Deaf American) and his partner Peta Murgatroyd won the Mirror Ball trophy in Season 22 of Dancing With the Stars on May 24, 2016. Before this, incredibly Nyle DiMarco also became the final winner of America's Next Top Model (Cycle 22) on December 4, 2015.

Alphabetical letters: It's useful for 1) a single-letter word (such as A, B, etc.) and 2) very short words (e.g. "to", "he", etc.) to narrow down the words and pages in the list.

Don't forget to click "All" back when you search another word with a different initial letter.

If you cannot find (perhaps overlook) a word but you can still see a list of links, then keep looking until the links disappear! Sharpening your eye or maybe refine your alphabetical index skill. :)

ASL has its own grammar and structure in sentences that works differently from English. For plurals, verb inflections, word order, etc., learn grammar in the "ASL Learn" section. For search in the dictionary, use the present-time verbs and base words. If you look for "said", look up the word "say". Likewise, if you look for an adjective word, try the noun or vice versa. E.g. The ASL signs for French and France are the same. If you look for a plural word, use a singular word.
