Kid's ASL sign for doll

Meaning: A small model of a human figure, often one of a baby or girl, used as a child's toy.

The toddler Juli, age 2;9, learned to type the English word "doll". She also fingerspelled it. Typing, writing, and fingerspelling (letter by letter) are related. But, fingerspelling and fingerspelled loans are not the same process.

Language development: The mother asked three year old girl Juli what happened. She replied, "Doll spilled all water. [pointing]" She accused the doll. Mom asked how? Did the doll move? Juli finally felt caught with a laugh, but she still didn't want to admit it.
