Harry attended California School for the Deaf in Riverside, California. His peers, school counselors and parents encouraged him to pursue his career in Art. He graduated with a BA degree in Fine Art from Gallaudet University in 1974.
Many of his images are influenced by music, in which violins in those images are without strings. He considered himself a "Symbolist" painter.
