Signing Space
A Model
Which area in this picture does a listener generally focus upon? Specifically, the nose? Mouth? Eyes? Spread focus upon face? Below the face?
Sign Area: Listener
The light area in this illustration shows where a listener generally focuses upon. In flexibility, the listener gently shifts the focal area around the peripheral area (eg. fingerspelling). With practices, a listener will eventually be able to "stretch" or "enlarge" hir focal area.
Sign Area: Signer
The light area is usually the maximum boundary line where a visual-manual speaker usually sign around inside this area. This image is also the ideal area for a video to shoot a narrator.
