Gallaudet University
Gallaudet University is a liberal arts university, located in Washington, D.C. It is the only university for the deaf in the world, where it provides programs and services for the deaf and some hearing students in bilingual communication (ASL and written English). American Sign Language (ASL) is employed campus-wide. The university is named after Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet (1787-1851) who was one of the fathers of deaf education in America.
